Wooden oar, paint, machined hole, powdered pigment

This Untitled Oar is made of white-washed, rough-sawn lumber. A 4” hole was machined through the center of this oar. Powdered ultramarine pigment was then applied to the inside surface of the hole, creating a near-black, velveteen surface that shines as a supersaturated blue when struck with light.
